Prime Minister issues decision to form Supervisory Committee for Shura Council elections

The Supervisory Committee of the Shura Council elections 2021 will be headed by Maj. Gen. Majid Ibrahim Al Khulaifi as Chairman (L) and Brig. Salem Saqr Al Meraikhi as Vice-Chairman.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani has issued decision No. 53 of 2021 to form the Supervisory Committee and executive committees concerned with the Shura Council elections and define their terms of reference, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release Sunday. This decision comes within the framework of the Ministry of Interior's intensive preparations to hold the first Shura Council elections. The decision stipulated that the Supervisory Committee of the Shura Council elections 2021 will be headed by Maj. Gen. Majid Ibrahim Al Khulaifi, Director of the Elections Department at the Ministry of Interior. Brig. Salem Saqr Al Meraikhi, Director of Legal Affairs Department at the Ministry, will be the vice-chairman, while heads of all sub-committees will be committee members. The Supervisory Committee, according to the decision, is responsible for taking all necessary and appropriate measures to prepare for the Shura Council elections, including supervising the proper conduct of the electoral process and providing the requirements for the various work of the executive committees formed under it such as legal, security, technical, media, and the logistics committees. "Based on the directives of HE the Minister of Interior, the Supervisory Committee, as soon as the decision to form it was issued, started its tasks intensively to discuss the required work plans according to the terms of reference and tasks of its executive committees", said Maj. Gen. Majed Ibrahim Al-Khulaifi, head of the Supervisory Committee of the Shura Council elections. The executive committees started to set plans and programs of work under the mandates established for the voters and candidates committees and election committees. The stages of the electoral process begin with voters registration, publishing the initial list, acceptance of grievance and adjudication, and publishing the final list of voters. Then starts registration of candidates and announcing their initial lists followed by grievances and adjudication and announcement of the final lists of the candidates. It is followed by the election campaign of the candidates and the silence day prior to the voting day, which is set for one day.More Related News
