President of Kazakhstan meets Foreign Minister

HE President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met today with HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, on the sidelines of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which is taking place in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed, in a speech made on behalf of the participating delegation during the reception, his thanks and gratitude to HE the President of Kazakhstan for the invitation to attend the sixth session of the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, and for the good reception and hospitality on Kazakhstan's land.
His Excellency highlighted the distinguished cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and Kazakhstan, which are seeing marked development in all fields. Those fields include political, economic, and investment avenues. His Excellency expressed his hope that bilateral relations can continue to prosper to benefit the interests of the two peoples.
His Excellency said that the State of Qatar appreciates Kazakhstan's leading role in Central Asia and its efforts that are dedicated to guaranteeing peace and stability in Asia and the entire world. His Excellency added that the State of Qatar appreciates the decision made by Kazakhstan in in its first years of independence to give up its nuclear arsenal, which was the fourth-largest in the world. His Excellency noted that the move led to international recognition of the country's role in the global nuclear system and creating a Central Asia that is free from nuclear weapons. In addition to establishing the unique Low Enriched Uranium Bank in cooperation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Afghanistan.
