PM, FM offer Qatar’s support to Philippines on typhoon fallout

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani held a telephone conversation with Philippine Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Eduardo Ano, during which he expressed his condolences on the victims of Typhoon Rai that hit the country recently, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. The PM stressed during the call that, in implementation of the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to send urgent aid to the Philippines, Qatar will do all it can to support the country and its friendly people to try and alleviate the damages caused by the typhoon. Ano thanked the PM for Qatar's efforts, and its humanitarian solidarity with the government of the Philippines and its people. The call also dealt with reviewing bilateral co-operation and the means to enhance it. HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani also held a telephone conversation with the Philippines Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodoro Locsin. The call dealt with reviewing bilateral co-operation. Sheikh Mohamed expressed during the call his condolences on the victims of Typhoon Rai that hit the country recently, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. He expressed Qatar's solidarity and its readiness to provide humanitarian aid to the people of the Philippines. He also expressed his full confidence in the ability of the government and people of the Philippines to overcome the impacts of the Typhoon, reiterating Qatar's support and willingness to help in that regard. He also said in a tweet, "Condolences to the Philippines for the victims of Typhoon Rai, and to the Filipino community in Qatar, who contributed to the development of the country. We believe in the Philippines' ability to overcome the effects of the typhoon, and we wish all a speedy recovery."
