Nic Claxton failing to live up to Nets’ $97 million commitment
NY Post
The Nets paid Nic Claxton expecting him to be an anchor, not a millstone. They bet big — nearly nine figures big — on him getting better. Instead, he’s gotten worse.
And he knows it, admitting he just hasn’t lived up to his own standards this season.
“I’m not pleased with nothing, honestly,” Claxton said. “I need to be better, more consistent.
“Everywhere: rebounding, free throws, protecting the rim, more blocks, I need to do everything better. Be more aggressive on offense. Everything.”

The Knicks won’t be raising a banner to the rafters at Madison Square Garden to commemorate their victory in the 2025 NBA Cup, and you can count your humble narrator among the faction that wishes they’d chosen differently. I’m not quite sure when it became mandatory to rinse as much fun out of sports as possible, but we’re sure trying.
