
NIA Mumbai Court convicts and sentences three Bangladeshi nationals

NIA court sentences three Bangladeshi nationals to 5 years in jail for illegal infiltration and fake documents.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court, Mumbai, has sentenced five years of imprisonment to three Bangladeshi nationals for illegal infiltration into India and possession of fake documents, said NIA officials on Wednesday (December 11, 2024) in a press statement.

Mohammed Habibur Rehman Habib alias Raj Jesub Mandal, Hannan Anwar Hussain Khan alias Hannan Baburali Gazi, and Mohammed Azarali Subhanallah alias Raja Jesub Mandal were convicted and sentenced to five years in jail, along with ₹2,000 each as fine.
The case had originated from the FIR registered originally by Pune Police in March 2018 based on inputs received regarding several Bangladeshi nationals staying in Pune without valid documents, and abetting and aiding members of ABT, a front organization of the proscribed terror organisation, the Al Qaida.
Based on its investigations, NIA had filed a chargesheet on September 7, 2018, against the three accused persons under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code [IPC] of criminal conspiracy, Section 471 for using forged documents, Sections 17, 19 and 20 of the Unlawful Activities [Prevention] Act, 1967 for unlawful activities and terrorism, and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946. Around the same investigation in October 2023, two other Bangladeshi nationals, Mohammed Ripen Hossain alias Rubel and Mohammed Hassan Ali alias Mohammed Amer Ali were also convicted and sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment after they pleaded guilty.
