Confidence that the pandemic was coming to an end was feeding a national optimism about the year ahead -- a sentiment shared by 64% of Americans in an ABC News/Ipsos poll. Biden at six months is fearing massive legislative paralysis as well as a potential resurgence of COVID-19. Optimism about the next 12 months has plummeted nearly 20 points in the latest iteration of that poll.
