"That's what they're afraid of," the former speaker said.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Wednesday exposed why the Republican Party is so afraid of defying President Donald Trump, referencing a harrowing event her family experienced.
In an interview with SiriusXM’s Zerlina Maxwell, Pelosi said many GOP members of Congress worry they could be attacked in the same way her husband, Paul, was assaulted inside the couple’s San Francisco home nearly three years ago.
“That’s what they’re afraid of,” she said. “They don’t want their children threatened, their families threatened, their lives in jeopardy because they speak out against him.”
David DePape broke into the Pelosis’ home in October 2022 looking for the then-House speaker who was not there. The intruder went on to beat Paul Pelosi with a hammer, fracturing his skull.
DePape, who had a track record of embracing right-wing conspiracy theories, was sentenced to life in prison without parole in state court in October of last year on top of a 30-year-sentence he got in the federal case against him.
