A crash on a major route in north Winnipeg has sent several people to hospital and shut down a busy intersection.
A car crashed into a light standard at Inkster Boulevard and King Edward Street around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, according to police.
There were multiple people in the vehicle who suffered numerous serious injuries, a police spokesperson told CBC News.
The intersection is closed as traffic investigators look over the scene, which covers a wide swath.
Pieces of the vehicle and shattered glass are scattered around the intersection, near Stanley Knowles School in the city's Tyndall Park area.

As the province doubled down on its “tough on crime” measures and calls for federal bail reform this week, rates of violence across Ontario jails — both inmate-on-inmate and inmate-on-staff assaults — are rising, according to an analysis of data shared with CBC News by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU).
