MTV VMAs return to Brooklyn to rock Barclays Center

There won’t be any sleeping in Brooklyn when the MTV Video Music Awards return to Barclays Center on Sept. 12.

When the VMAs took over the Nets’ spot for the first time in 2013 — marking the 30th anniversary of the awards show — Lady Gaga lived for our “Applause,” Justin Timberlake reunited with ’N Sync and Miley Cyrus twerked upon Robin Thicke. Certainly, a lot has changed in the pop world since then — and not only because of the pandemic that forced the VMAs to move from Barclays Center to other remote locations last year.
