Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior has urged owners of home surveillance cameras to take the necessary measures to secure their devices and protect them from cyber attacks.
In a social media post, the Ministry noted that these steps are part of ongoing efforts to enhance digital security for individuals and families in the country.
Users are advised to change default passwords and replace them with strong, unique ones that include a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
The Ministry also recommended using the official app provided by the manufacturer to access the surveillance camera and safely view footage.
It warned that accessing the camera through open or untrusted internet links could expose data and compromise privacy. Therefore, it is essential to update the camera’s software regularly to fix potential security vulnerabilities.
