Ministry makes Arabic and Islamic education compulsory subjects in Qatar private schools

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, through the private education affairs department, issued Academic Policy – 2021 making Arabic, Islamic education and Qatari history compulsory subjects in private schools and kindergartens, which is an update of the same policy that was circulated in school year 2019-2020.

The Department of Private Schools Affairs in the Private Education Affairs Department of the Ministry explained in a circular issued by Rashid Ahmed Al Ameri, Director of the department, and sent it to all private schools and kindergartens, the most important points of the updated version of the academic policy for compulsory subjects are as follows: • The need to teach two subjects - Arabic language and Islamic education - starting from pre-school (kindergarten and preparatory) in all private schools and kindergartens. • The need to teach the three compulsory subjects in all curricula and educational systems, in accordance with the sequence of classes. • Schools comply with the conditions and controls of the equation of grades (10, 11, 12) and the ministerial decision No. (11) for 2021. • The commitment of private schools to evaluate compulsory subjects for all classes - grade 1 to 12 - in all curricula and educational systems.  These developments in the academic policy of the three compulsory subjects, which include Arabic, Islamic education and the history of Qatar, come in light of the interest and concern to promote the national identity and religious values of our children in private schools and kindergartens.
