
Ministry directs private school to remove offensive educational resource

Doha: Following a complaint by a parent about an offensive educational resource, Ministry of Education and Higher Education instructed the school to immediately remove the resource, further directing the matter to concerned department for legal action.
According to a tweet by the ministry, it received a complaint made by a parent on September 14 about an educational resource of Grade 10 in a private school, featuring content that violated the Islamic religion and the values and customs of the society.
The competent authority in the Ministry visited the concerned school to verify the matter. It found that the school violated the circular regarding the revision of educational resources, whereby all schools were obliged to review all new educational resources and ensure that they do not contain anything that contradicts the Islamic religion and the values and customs of the society while obtaining prior approval from the competent authority in the Ministry before distributing the resources to their respective students.
