Massive fireworks explosion kills 2 people and a dog in Southern California

Two people and a dog were killed Tuesday after a massive explosion caused by a large cache of fireworks rattled nearby homes in Ontario, prompting an evacuation order, CBS Los Angeles reported. According to the Ontario Fire Department, multiple units were are on the scene of a reported explosion in the area of San Antonio and Maple Avenue around 12:30 p.m.
Ontario Fire Department Chief Gayk confirmed Tuesday afternoon that two people were killed in the explosion and three others suffered minor injuries but did not need to be hospitalized. Gayk also said a horse and a dog were injured but doing well. Another dog was found deceased at the property.Ashley White received her earliest combat action badge from the United States Army soon after the first lieutenant arrived in Afghanistan. The silver military award, recognizing soldiers who've been personally engaged by an attacker during conflict, was considered an achievement in and of itself as well as an affirming rite of passage for the newly deployed. White had earned it for using her own body to shield a group of civilian women and children from gunfire that broke out in the midst of her third mission in Kandahar province. All of them survived. She never mentioned the badge to anyone in her battalion.
