A 45-year-old man in Inuvik, N.W.T. has been charged in connection with the death of woman in the community last week.
In a news release on Tuesday, RCMP said Kenneth Campbell is facing one charge of second-degree murder.
Police said earlier they received a report at around 9:30 p.m. last Thursday that a person had been killed at a business on Industrial Road. They said a 38-year-old woman was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead.
RCMP investigators say they believe it is a case of intimate-partner violence and they've classified the death as a femicide, which refers to intentional sex/gender-related killing of women or girls, primarily by men.
Campbell is in custody in Yellowknife. He's scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
