Former child star Macaulay Culkin is looking back fondly on his relationship with the late John Candy and how the actor looked out for him during his tough upbringing.
The “Home Alone” actor, who starred alongside Candy in the 1990 Christmas classic as well as in “Only the Lonely” and “Uncle Buck,” spoke about the comedian in Colin Hanks’ new documentary, “John Candy: I Like Me.”
“I think he always had that really great instinct,” Culkin says in the documentary of Candy, People magazine reported.
“Listen, even before the wave crested and the ‘Home Alone’ stuff was happening, it was not hard to see how difficult my father was,” Culkin said. “It was no secret. He was already a monster.”
Culkin has shared in the past that his dad was both physically and mentally abusive to him.
