The Middlesex-London board of health has found a new permanent chief executive officer (CEO) for the Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU).
Emily Williams has been appointed to the role, effective Wednesday. Williams has been the unit's interim CEO since last March.
Williams joined the MLHU in November 2020 as director of the healthy organization division, where she was overseeing the human resources and finance departments. More recently, she served as the logistics lead for the unit's COVID-19 vaccine program.
In a news release, board chair Maureen Cassidy described Williams as a tremendous addition to the team with many years of leadership in the health-care sector.
"The board of health is thrilled that Ms. Williams is officially stepping into her new role as the health unit's permanent CEO, and we look forward to her continued leadership in the years to come," she said.
Williams is a registered nurse with a bachelor of science in nursing degree from Western University. She's worked at the London Health Sciences Centre for more than 20 years.
P.E.I.'s Public Schools Branch is looking for 50 substitute bus drivers, and it'll be recruiting at three job fairs on Saturday, June 8. The job fairs are located at the Atlantic Superstore in Montague, Royalty Crossing in Charlottetown, and the bus parking lot of Three Oaks Senior High in Summerside. All three run from 9 a.m. until noon. Dave Gillis, the director of transportation and risk management for the Public Schools Branch, said the number of substitute drivers they're hiring isn't unusual. "We are always looking for more. Our drivers tend to have an older demographic," he said.
