London man charged for three separate sexual assaults in one night in Hyde Park area

A 31-year-old London man is facing charges relating to three separate sexual assaults that took place in one night in the city's west end.

The first two incidents occurred in an elevator at an apartment building on Fiddlers Green Road on May 2. Police later learned the following Monday that the third assault occurred at a nearby location during the time that they were responding to calls to the first two incidents. 

"The first two occurred and we were dispatched to investigate," said constable Matt Dawson with the London Police Service (LPS). "During our initial investigation of the first two, unbeknownst to us, the third one happened. We arrested the accused that night, and then on Monday we were made aware of the third incident."

At 4 p.m. that day, a woman entered the lobby of an apartment building on Fiddlers Green Road, just southeast of Hyde Park Road and Oxford Street West. A man who she knew as an acquaintance followed her in, police said, and allegedly sexually assaulted her as she exited. 

Then, at 7:45 p.m., the same man allegedly entered the elevator with another woman. He proceeded to remove his clothing while speaking with her, police said. When the woman attempted to flee from the man after exiting the elevator, he ran after her. 

A witness observed the incident, called the police, and the suspect went back inside the elevator. 

At 9 p.m., the suspect entered a public washroom in the 1100-block of Hyde Park Road and touched a school-aged boy in a sexual manner. The victim fled the area and notified a family member of the sexual assault. Police were contacted May 5 and commenced an investigation. 

Meantime, both victims from the elevator incidents were able to identify the man and he was later arrested on May 2. 

The accused remains in custody until his next court appearance, said Dawson. Anyone with information related to these incidents is asked to contact LPS.
