Hard to believe the calendar is on the cusp of flipping to a new month and we’re still watching the Toronto Blue Jays play baseball.
The World Series has captivated the nation and there are several local watch parties planned for Game 6 on Friday night (and possibly Game 7 on Saturday night if necessary).
Friday night is also, of course, Halloween so be aware little ones in costumes will be excitedly running door-to-door to request candy from their neighbours.
YMCA of Three Rivers and the Early Years Child Care Navigators of Waterloo Region are hosting a free child health fair Saturday afternoon at the Williamsburg Community Centre in Kitchener. There will be local health services plus free developmental screenings for children under the age of six. Drop-ins are welcome, but people can also register online.
The Huron Cultural Diwali event is being held Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Breslau Community Centre.
A soup and stroll event is being held Saturday at McDougall Cottage in Cambridge. The stroll part will be a tour of Galt’s architecture. The soup part is a homemade Scotch Broth soup. Registration is required.
A different event involving soup is the Sensational Elora’s Soup Off and Empty Bowls, which is a fundraiser for the Centre Wellington Food Bank. It runs Sunday afternoon and people will get to sample various soups from local chefs. Tickets are available online or at the door.
The Kitchener Rangers have a home game Friday night, hosting the Sudbury Wolves. On Saturday, they hit the road to take on the Brampton Steelheads.
The Guelph Storm have one game this weekend and it’s at home. They face off against the Sarnia Sting Sunday at 2 p.m.
Also, don't forget to "fall back" an hour this weekend. The clocks change early Sunday morning.

Celebrate the Day of the Dead with music, food, art and entertainment. There is a celebration at the Kitchener Market to start the day, then people will march down King Street and end up in front of Kitchener city hall for an afternoon of music, food, vendors, ofrendas (altars), performances and other activities.
