The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) announced the launch of the first edition of the "Katara Festival for Artistic Talents," in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The festival aims to attract talented students in drawing at all school levels (primary, preparatory, and secondary) and to discover, nurture, encourage, and motivate new and distinguished artistic talents for creativity and innovation. The festival's organising committee announced that participation in the festival's competitions will be open to students of all school levels in Qatar (primary, preparatory, and secondary), adding that each school is allowed to submit five artworks. The committee said that the Katara waterfront will host an art exhibition featuring the best artworks presented by schools, and will continue from Nov 30 to Dec 18, the day of the celebration of Qatar National Day (QND). Furthermore, it clarified the specifications of the submitted artwork, including that the paper type should be Canson with an A3 size, and that colours (flowmaster, wood, water, wax, charcoal) are used, noting that the subject of the artwork is focused on sports. The committee asked the participants to include school name, student name, the name of the submitted artwork, colour quality, contact number, when submitting their works. The last date for submitting the works is Nov 15, in building (22) from 9am to 2pm. Valuable prizes will be awarded to the top 10 winners, along with appreciation certificates. General Manager of Katara Prof Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti explained that the launch of the festival comes in order to search for, attract, and nurture artistic talent, stressing Katara's constant keenness and tireless efforts to embrace talented students and work on developing and refining their talents. The General Manager of Katara indicated that the festival abounds with artistic competitions for school students of all groups, ages and grades, in order to choose the best artistic elements, promote talent, develop their skills, and appreciating the prospects and opportunities these competitions open to students for self-expression, self-confidence, personality building, and achieving the highest levels of excellence and superiority, in addition to the contribution of these competitions to highlight the talents of students and raise their energies and abilities and benefit from them.
