Parts of the Kansas City International Airport in Kansas City, Missouri were evacuated March 8 as authorities investigated a potential threat, according to the airport.
Kansas City Aviation Department spokesperson Jackson Overstreet said in an email to USA TODAY that sections of the terminal were evacuated as a "precaution."
"Airport Police are working with the FBI to substantiate any potential threat," Overstreet said.
Airport officials told USA TODAY the threat was received around 11:15 a.m. CT. Several hours later, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said in a post on X that the security incident "is now clear and normal operations are resuming." Video posted to social media by Krista Tatschl of KMBC-TV shows passengers returning to the terminal from the tarmac.
