John Harbaugh already at work reshaping the Giants staff
NY Post
John Harbaugh is already at work trying to put together his first Giants coaching staff. One of the most logical candidates is Todd Monken, who was the Ravens offensive coordinator the past three seasons with Harbaugh.
“We’ll see, can’t really say right now, there’s a lot of moving parts,’’ Harbaugh told The Post on Monday. “He’s interviewing [Tuesday] for the Browns head coaching job so there’s a lot of balls still up in the NFL, that’s for sure. Look at today man, crazy.’’
Harbaugh was referring to the stunning firing by the Bills of Sean McDermott, who had a regular-season winning percentage of .662. He took his team to the playoffs in eight of his nine years in Buffalo, but failed to get past the AFC divisional round this weekend in a 33-30 overtime loss to the Broncos in Denver.
Harbaugh will spend this week interviewing members of Brian Daboll’s staff and he might opt to have a few of them stay on the job.
For defensive coordinator, the Giants have requested to interview Daronte Jones, the Vikings passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach, according to ESPN.
Jones has already met with the Jets and Cowboys for their vacant defensive coordinator positions.
