Tua Tagovailoa comes to MetLife Stadium with two interesting streaks on the line.
Tagovailoa is 6-0 as the Dolphins starting quarterback against the Jets in his career and 7-0 overall. He is also 0-7 in his career in games when the temperature is 46 degrees or lower, according to the Palm Beach Post.
With a high of 40 forecast for Sunday in East Rutherford and the Jets on the opposing sideline, something has to give.
“First things first, it’s going to be cold,” Tagovailoa said. “You kind of have that on the top of your mind. Outside of that, it’s a mentality, it’s a mindset. This is what we get paid to do — to play football, regardless of if it’s raining, it’s snowing, it’s sleeting, it’s hot, it’s cold. Regardless, we’ve got to go out there and play and do our jobs.”
The Dolphins enter this game on a three-game winning streak, turning around their season since firing general manager Chris Grier on Oct. 31 and possibly extending Mike McDaniel’s time as the head coach.
The 5-7 Dolphins have an outside shot at making the playoffs still, and Tagovailoa could convince the team that he is still their long-term answer at quarterback.
