Israel’s military said on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) that its air defences were activated in response to missiles fired by Iran, shortly after it announced that it had launched a “wave” of air strikes on Iran.
“A short while ago, the IDF identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel. Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the Israeli military said on its official Telegram channel.
On April 6, 2026, Iran rejected the latest ceasefire proposal and instead said it wanted a permanent end to the war, as U.S. President Donald Trump’s ultimatum loomed within hours. Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency said Tehran had conveyed its response through Pakistan, a key mediator. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump said that the U.S. had studied a proposal for a 45-day ceasefire in the Iran war, a move he called a “very significant step”.

He also said that Iran’s proposal was significant but not good enough. Earlier, the White House informed that Mr. Trump had “not signed off” on the proposal and is continuing the war.

Israel’s Defence Minister says Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps intelligence chief Majid Khademi has been killed in a strike in Tehran. Iran calls it a “terrorist attack” and blames Israel and the United States. The killing marks the latest in a series of strikes targeting top Iranian leadership since late February.
