
Indian Fine Arts Society’s 92nd music festival begins

92nd Annual South Indian Music Conference & Festival honors Neyveli R. Santhanagopalan & Jayashree Ragagopalan, celebrating Carnatic music tradition.
The 92nd Annual South Indian Music Conference and Festival of Indian Fine Arts Society began at the Ethiraja Kalyana Mandapam in Alwarpet on Wednesday.
At the inauguration, Neyveli R. Santhanagopalan, eminent vocalist, received the Sangeetha Kalasikhamani award.
Dance exponent Jayashree Ragagopalan received the Natya Kalasikhamani award.
Delivering the inaugural address, A. Ramakrishnan, Founder-Trustee, Rasikapriya Fine Arts Academy, lauded office-bearers of the Indian Fine Arts Society for continuing the tradition of hosting the annual festival for the past 92 years.
Mr. Ramakrishnan further praised the pivotal role played by sabhas, which strove to preserve the great tradition of Carnatic music.

After being repeatedly disrupted for three consecutive days over issues ranging from the Governor’s address and alleged disrespect to the national anthem to demands for the resignation of the Excise Minister, among others, normalcy finally returned to the Legislative Council on Friday, with proceedings commencing.
