India's retail inflation rises to 8-year high of 7.79% in April

The annual retail inflation surged to 7.79 per cent in April from a year ago. In March, the retail inflation was at 6.95 per cent.
India's retail inflation surged to an eight-year high of 7.79 per cent in April on annual basis. The retail inflation accelerated mainly due to stubbornly high food prices.
The retail inflation stayed well above the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) upper tolerance limit for a fourth consecutive month.
Meanwhile, industrial production grew 1.9 per cent in March and 11.3 per cent in the financial year 2021-22, according to the government data.
