The rock band used a Los Angeles concert to send a blunt message about Trump's immigration crackdown.
Green Day shredded President Donald Trump’s deportation agenda over the weekend with a pair of tweaked lyrics during a Los Angeles concert.
On Saturday, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers played a number of hits from their 2004 classic album “American Idiot,” including the hit song “Holiday” which takes a dig at former President George W. Bush’s administration and its war in Iraq.
“This song is anti-fascism. This song is anti-war,” declared lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong at the Saturday show. “We stand up for our brothers and sisters in Minnesota.”
Following his show of support for protesters against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he exchanged the lyrics on the song’s interlude to take aim at a key figure influencing Trump’s immigration crackdown.
The song’s original lyrics include the line, “The representative from California has the floor. Armstrong instead said, “Ladies and gentlemen, Stephen Miller now has the floor,” before launching into the bridge of “Holiday,” which includes the lyrics, “Sieg Heil to the President Gasman.”
