Banks in the country often send messages to their customers, requesting them not to share sensitive personal details like bank account numbers and OTP over a phone call. A recent judgement by a Gujarat consumer court is just the reason why individuals should take such warnings seriously. In its ruling, the Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission in Amreli district told a victim of bank fraud that he is not liable to get compensation from the bank. The court in its order asserted that the man was duped due to his own negligence, reported The Times of India. Kurji Javia, a retired teacher who now practises law, fell victim to a fraudulent call in April 2018. He had shared ATM card details with a scamster, who posed as a State Bank of India (SBI) manager, over a phone call. A sum of Rs 41,500 was withdrawn from Javia’s account a day later.More Related News
