"Please don’t forget your sunscreen," the celebrity chef urged his audience.
British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has announced he underwent surgery for skin cancer in a post on social media on Saturday, encouraging his audience to remember to wear sunscreen.
The “Masterchef” judge shared a post on Instagram featuring two photos: first, a side profile image showing a bandage covering part of his face and neck, and another showing a line of stitches spanning from his earlobe to the top of his neck.
“Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma thank you! Please don’t forget your sunscreen,” Ramsay wrote.
“I promise you it’s not a face lift!” he joked. “I’d need a refund.”
Basal cell carcinoma is a form of skin cancer originating in the basal cells and often appears on parts of the skin most exposed to the sun, including one’s face and neck, according to Mayo Clinic. Staying away from the sun and regularly wearing sunscreen could help guard against this type of cancer, Mayo Clinic added.
