Google, Spotify issues appear resolved after thousands impacted

The issues that impacted Google Cloud, Gmail, Google Search and Spotify on Thursday appeared to have been resolved as of Friday morning.
The issues impacting Alphabet’s services including Google Cloud, Gmail and Google Search, as well as the music streaming platform Spotify and other online platforms on Thursday appear to have been resolved as of Friday morning.
On Thursday, outage tracking website Downdetector.com showed more than 13,000 incidents of people reporting issues with Google Cloud and more than 27,000 for Spotify.
As of Friday morning, Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources, showed each platform seeing fewer than 10 reports.
Google and Spotify did not respond to requests for comment.
Downdetector also showed reports from some users saying they were encountering issues with Amazon Web Services during the same time period.
Amazon said in an email that their platform had “operated normally” on Thursday.
A spokesperson for Amazon said Downdetector “is not a reliable source. When one service provider has a bad day on the internet, Downdetector regularly shows false positives for non-affected providers.”
Downdetector’s numbers are based on user-submitted reports.
The milestone deal with Ottawa signed earlier this week clears regulatory hurdles for a potential pipeline from Alberta to the West Coast.
