GO Transit commuters are being warned to plan ahead Wednesday morning, as recovery efforts continue at Union Station.
It comes two days after a derailed train caused havoc on train schedules and delayed thousands of commuters.
A special schedule is yet again in effect Wednesday to support ongoing restoration efforts, according to Metrolinx’s website. It warns riders to check the online schedule and prepare before any travel.
The agency said in an emailed statement that trains will be running on the following schedule Wednesday morning:
The UP Express returned to regular service Wednesday, after it was shuttered for most of Monday and returned on a modified schedule Tuesday.
As of Wednesday, the majority of track repairs are complete and work is ongoing to the signal system, "which sustained significant damage," said Metrolinx in an emailed statement to CBC News.
It said impacts are expected "to extend into the coming days" as system repairs will need more time to complete.
A GO train leaving Union Station at low speed Monday morning derailed and made contact with a track switch, causing "signal system disruptions" and "considerable service impacts," said Metrolinx.
Commuters impacted by Monday's incident will be eligible for a refund, it said. Refunds can be requested by submitting a claim online.
The damaged train was rerailed and damaged signal infrastructure was removed early Tuesday morning.
Tuesday's train service operated on a modified schedule, which ran as planned with some delays on the Lakeshore East and West lines.
