Giants’ cut-down day surprises, big moves — and what comes next
NY Post
The Giants cut former starters, draft picks and feel-good stories.
All in the name of having a more talented roster than recent years.
Here are five takeaways from the initial 53-man roster after 29 roster moves (26 cuts) were made Tuesday.
1. Gunner Olszewski, who was signed after camp started, won the returner job over Ihmir Smith-Marsette because he showed more playmaking as a slot receiver (10 catches for 112 yards and a touchdown in three games).

Suddenly, someone had hit a rewind button and everyone had been transported back seven months. It was early spring instead of late fall, it was broiling hot outside the arena walls and not freezing cold. Everyone was back at TD Garden. There were 19,156 frenzied fans on their feet begging for blood, poised for the kill.
