
Free ways to usher in the new year in Waterloo region and Guelph

Out with the old, in with the new.
It’s just about time to put 2025 to bed and celebrate the start of a new year and there are several ways to mark the occasion in Waterloo region and Guelph.
Local restaurants, bars, pubs and festhalls will be holding special events. The cities are also planning free family friendly events on Wednesday.
3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Preston Memorial Auditorium
Cambridge will offer free activities for all ages on and off the ice. There will be free public ice skating on 2 ice pads, one with lights and a DJ, the other more geared to families. Skate and helmets will be available to rent.
There will be a Turbo Max inflatable obstacle course as well as live entertainment with Comedy in Motion with Bob Cates, games and children's crafts.
The arena concession stand will be open with snacks and drinks for purchase.
8:30 p.m. to just after midnight
Kitchener’s city hall
This is a night of music and outdoor skating and two ball drops.
The night starts with the Pop 2K Mix Tape concert featuring hits from Beyonce, Natasha Bedingfield, Hannah Montana, Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera and more, performed by Life in Plastic.
At 10 p.m. there will be an early family countdown.
Then Shania Twin, a Shania Twain tribute performer, will perform into the night as the clock counts down to midnight.
