Doha, Qatar: With many exhibitions drawing to a close this winter, Qatar Museums (QM) invites the public to visit the enchanting world of “Chaumet & Nature” before it closes its doors on December 19, 2024.
Organised by Maison Chaumet in collaboration with QM, M7 and Qatar Creates, this exceptional high jewellery exhibition — the first of its kind in Qatar — is currently on view at M7, Qatar’s epicentre for innovation and entrepreneurship in design, fashion and tech.
“Chaumet & Nature” offers a stunning celebration of the House of Chaumet’s remarkable 240-year heritage, blending nature’s beauty with the art of fine jewellery. Featuring almost 107 exquisite jewellery pieces and 111 visual artworks, the exhibition transports visitors on an evocative journey through time, showcasing Chaumet’s unparalleled craftsmanship and unique designs which celebrate the vitality of the natural world.
Founded in 1780, Maison Chaumet stands as one of France’s oldest and most iconic jewellery houses, closely linked to the development of the nation. Its legacy began with Chaumet’s first major client, Napoleon Bonaparte, for whom the Maison’s founder, Marie-étienne Nitot, designed a spectacular épée for his coronation as Emperor.
Since then, Chaumet has drawn inspiration from the natural world, translating its beauty into timeless jewellery. Each workshop head has looked to the wonders of the earth’s flora and fauna, the vastness of the sky and the wonders of the sea, to craft jewels filled with emotion and symbolism. The exhibition merges Chaumet’s remarkable collections with those of Qatar Museums, celebrating their shared history dating back to the 1970s.
