Fed Governor Lisa Cook To Sue Over Trump Attempt To Fire Her, Attorney Says

The president’s move is seen as an attempt to get a loyalist on the Federal Reserve’s influential board.
A lawyer for Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook said he is to file a lawsuit over President Donald Trump’s attempt to fire her.
“President Trump has no authority to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook,” her lawyer, Abbe Lowell, said in a statement on Tuesday.
“His attempt to fire her, based solely on a referral letter, lacks any factual or legal basis. We will be filing a lawsuit challenging this illegal action.”
Trump said Monday in a letter posted on his Truth Social platform that he was removing Cook effective immediately because of allegations that she committed mortgage fraud.
Cook pledged to remain in the position. She has not been charged with any wrongdoing, let alone convicted.
