FDA reviewing Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine request for kids 'as quickly as possible'

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is working to review Pfizer’s request to expand authorization for use of its COVID-19 vaccine among adolescents “as quickly and transparently as possible,” an agency spokesperson confirmed to Fox News.
As of now, Pfizer’s vaccine is authorized for all adults aged 16 and over in its EUA. The news comes as Canada on Wednesday authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for ages 12 and over, becoming the first country to OK the shot for children under the age of 16. Dr. Supriya Sharma, the chief medical adviser at Health Canada, said the decision was made because the vaccine is safe and effective in that age group. It is the first coronavirus vaccine approved for children in Canada.More Related News
