'F**king Heathens!': John Oliver Shreds Mike Johnson’s Ridiculous Fox News Flashback
HuffPost
The "Last Week Tonight" host mocked the current House speaker for the "critically important job."
“Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver on Sunday taunted House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) with an unintentionally comical blast from the past.
Oliver aired footage of Johnson in 2005 passionately defending on Fox News the right to say Christmas and promoting a now-defunct website, SayChristmas.org, as part of his work for the conservative, evangelical-founded Alliance Defending Freedom, the subject of Oliver’s deep dive for the week.
Johnson was “doing the critically important job of defending the right to say ‘Christmas,’” Oliver quipped, dripping with sarcasm.
But in the Fox segment, after Johnson left the air, the hosts teased a segment on penguins battling “holiday” weight gain.
The hypocrisy was too much for Oliver.
