Experts believe the unidentified condition, which leads to severe antibiotic-resistant pneumonia, is contagious and contracted by dogs in group settings.
"It seems to happen very, very quickly," Dr. Lindsay Ganzer, a veterinarian at North Springs Veterinary Referral Center in Colorado Springs, told TODAY.
