Streaming platforms, premium cable channels and traditional network series were all in the mix.
The spotlight was on the small screen during the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday.
Hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, the ceremony honors television’s best at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
The evening’s top contenders came from streaming platforms and premium cable, with just a few traditional network series in the mix.
Apple TV+’s enigmatic workplace drama “Severance” scored 27 total nominations for its head-spinning second season. Its biggest competition is HBO Max’s edge-of-your-seat hospital drama, “The Pitt,” according to critics.
Leading in the comedy categories is another Apple TV+ production: the hysterical Hollywood send-up “The Studio.” It nabbed 23 nods, tying the Emmy record for the most nominations in a single year for a comedy series.
