Ooredoo has announced that it is collaborating with Dell Technologies to support its eSports brand, Ooredoo Nation – Gamers’ Land, with the aim of developing the eSports community in Qatar. Under this new collaboration, Ooredoo, together with Dell Technologies, will help develop talented young gamers to engage in team sports and develop essential skills needed for success. Through Ooredoo Nation’s Eshop, Dell Technologies will be offering gaming equipment, while providing gaming laptops for various gaming hubs supported by Ooredoo Nation. This initiative is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which includes a goal of Qatar becoming a global leader in different fields of sport, Ooredoo has said in a statement. Ooredoo Nation – Gamers’ Land was launched in 2021 by Ooredoo, in response to industry predictions that the gaming industry would reach some 200mn plus gamers from the Generation Z and millennial groups. Ooredoo Nation - Gamers’ Land is a joint initiative with eSports leaders Quest. The brand is a fraternity that is beyond geographical boundaries; a community of gamers that grows faster by the minute, inventing, innovating, creating, evolving and raising the game. Ooredoo Nation dares gamers to find one sport it does not play. The brand offers tournaments for gamers in Qatar and across the region, with opportunities for gamers to secure a contract to play for the Ooredoo professional eSports team and represent Ooredoo and Qatar in regional and global eSports events. Recent enhancements to Ooredoo’s gaming offering included the launch of dedicated gaming Add-ons, giving customers extra data for selected games and Twitch, as well as virtual coins with which they can upgrade their gaming profiles. Sabah Rabiah al-Kuwari, director of PR at Ooredoo, said: “eSports is one of the fastest growing phenomena across the globe, with its popularity and following increasing exponentially. Indeed, eSports fans rival those at any major physical sporting event in their enthusiasm and energy. We are delighted to work with Dell Technologies to help boost the eSports community in Qatar and the region, and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial working relationship.” Travers Nicholas, country head at Dell Technologies Qatar, said: “The explosive growth of eSports represents an abundance of opportunity — not only for brands but for today’s students, who have high hopes for their digital futures. These young gamers have grown up online and their passion for video gameplay presents an unmissable opportunity for educators to engage students at school and build vital real-world skills. Moreover, participating in competitive gaming creates opportunities in academics, athletics and the entire field of STEM and we’re honored to collaborate with Ooredoo to help promote and grow the eSports field in Qatar.” The collaboration was announced at Ooredoo Tower recently, with senior representatives of both entities present.
