The partnership aims to establish the country’s first final assembly line for a commercial aircraft, followed by a phased increase in indigenisation, according to a joint statement.
However, no timelines or locations for the proposed facilities have been disclosed.
“Together, we will evaluate the most viable, advanced, and efficient solutions in support of India’s RTA ambitions and their potential for implementation,” said Arjan Meijer, President and CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation.
Schemes like UDAN that connect tier-2 and tier- 3 cities have made the need for an indigenous regional aviation ecosystem has critical, said Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Defence & Aerospace talking about the MoU.
“A resilient and sustainable aviation can’t rely only on imports. India must be part of global supply chain,” said Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation, S. K. Sinha at the MoU signing event.
