CBSN
For actor Elliot Page, the journey to living authentically has been, and continues to be, an emotional one. In his first interview since coming out as transgender in December, Page spoke with Time Magazine about the "deep gratitude" he felt "to have made it to this point in my life," and about his fight to ensure that all transgender individuals have the support they need.
"I want to live and be who I am," Page, who is well-known for his role in Netflix's "The Umbrella Academy," told Time. "...It's a complicated journey, and an ongoing process." Page is the first transgender man to be on the cover of Time Magazine, according to Reuters.Ashley White received her earliest combat action badge from the United States Army soon after the first lieutenant arrived in Afghanistan. The silver military award, recognizing soldiers who've been personally engaged by an attacker during conflict, was considered an achievement in and of itself as well as an affirming rite of passage for the newly deployed. White had earned it for using her own body to shield a group of civilian women and children from gunfire that broke out in the midst of her third mission in Kandahar province. All of them survived. She never mentioned the badge to anyone in her battalion.
