Cairo: Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati said Monday his country would continue mediation efforts with both Qatar and the US for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The remarks came during a joint press conference with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa, held in front of the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing with Gaza, where Abdel Aati expressed Egypt's rejection of the Israeli deliberate starvation campaign against Gaza’s residents.
The Israeli occupation is working to change the reality in the Gaza Strip by pushing the population southwards, he told reporters, stressing Egypt’s rejection of all attempts to displace Palestinians from their land.
Abdel Aati stated that the illusions and arrogance of power will not achieve security for Israel or the region, and that the statements about the so-called Greater Israel are mere illusions that Egypt will not allow to be implemented.
On another note, the Egyptian foreign minister said Egypt is organizing training programs for Palestinian personnel to take over security responsibilities in Gaza, confirming Egypt's support for the Palestinian people in achieving their legitimate, inalienable rights, self-determination, and the establishment of their independent state.
