Economist Pulls Apart Trump’s Latest Boasts: ‘My Kids Don’t Even Lie That Often’

Justin Wolfers explained exactly why the president's brags are "just nonsense."
Economist Justin Wolfers summed up Donald Trump’s latest boasts about the economy as “just nonsense.”
“My kids don’t even lie that often,” the professor of economics at the University of Michigan lamented on MS NOW’s “The Weekend.”
“I just feel disappointment and a certain sadness at this point,” he added.
Wolfers called out Trump’s claim that the United States is “taking in trillions of dollars in tariff revenue” and argued it’s because the president doesn’t understand the difference between millions, billions and trillions. “If we were, we could afford his $2,000 tariff checks. We aren’t. So therefore, we can’t,” he said.
The economist also clarified Trump’s stock market brags, acknowledging that U.S. stocks are up but “they’re up even more everywhere else.”
