Donald Trump Makes Most Trumpian Ask After Being Handed World Cup Trophy

The president put his penchant for bling on full display. Yet again.
President Donald Trump made a trademark Trumpian request after being allowed to hold the FIFA World Cup trophy at the White House.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino handed the gold prize to Trump during an Oval Office presser on Friday announcing the Dec. 5 draw date for the 2026 soccer tournament, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“It is the trophy that the winner of the FIFA World Cup wins,” Infantino explained to Trump in a way that some social media users mocked as patronizing. “Only the FIFA president, presidents of countries and then those who win can touch it, because this is for winners only. And since you are a winner, of course, you can touch it. It’s pretty heavy.”
“Can I keep it?” Trump asked, before joking that “we’re not giving it back.”
“It goes very well on the wall right over there. We’ll put it right below the angels,” Trump added, referencing some of the blinged-up decor he’s used to transform the Oval Office following his return to power.
