Doha, Qatar: The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, in collaboration with the United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (the Centre), will host the first edition of the Arab Moot Court Competition for Human Rights from October 7 to 9, 2025, with the participation of students from various universities across the Arab world.
This competition, organized within the framework of the Centre’s Human Rights Education Unit, aims to raise awareness among university students and youth in Arab countries about human rights issues, while developing their legal skills in advocacy and judicial argumentation through a realistic simulation of international and regional court procedures.
Program Highlights:
Day One (October 7, 2025): Opening remarks will be delivered by leadingacademics and international figures, followed by panel discussions on the future of regional guarantees and the human rights system. The competition will then be officially launched, and participating teams distributed.
Day Two (October 8, 2025): The rounds between university teams will begin, concluding with the announcement of the teams qualifying for the semi-finals.
