Madurai DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran criticizes BJP's false promises and neglect of Tamil Nadu's interests at public meeting.
DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran on Saturday urged the people of Tamil Nadu not to fall prey to BJP’s false promises. He criticised the BJP-led Central government for ignoring the interests of the people of the State.
Speaking at a public meeting organised by DMK in Madurai, as part of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s birthday celebrations, Mr. Maran said that the Central government ignored the people of the southern districts of Tamil Nadu which were affected by the unprecedented floods.
While the Centre focused on promoting Sanskrit, it ignored Tamil which was one of the oldest languages in the world. Tamil, spoken by crores of people and an official language in many countries, was the first language to be declared a classical language of India, he said.
The Centre ignored the people of Tamil Nadu because Tamils do not differentiate between people based on language or religion. The people of Tamil Nadu respected every language and religion. They were not against Hindi, but only against the imposition of Hindi, Mr. Maran said.
He said that the people of Tamil Nadu had voted out AIADMK from power in the 2021 Assembly elections. Since then there has been no looking back for the State. Under the DMK-led government which followed the Dravidian model of governance, the State has progressed in every aspect.
Mr. Maran listed out the achievements of the DMK government. He said that the Kalaignar Centenary Library, the Kalaignar Centenary Aeruthazhavuthual Arena in Madurai and Keeladi in Sivaganga district were constructed and inaugurated by the DMK government.
Some of the other developmental works being carried out in Madurai included the works in Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple, Veera Vasantharayar Mandapam and Tirupparankundram temple for which funds have already been allocated. Metro rail project has been announced. Other developmental projects included working women’s hostel, skill development centre, he added.
