The 81st International Film Festival of Malappuram concluded, celebrating cinema and the Rasmi Film Society's golden jubilee.
The 81st International Film Festival of Malappuram, organised by the Rasmi Film Society, concluded here on Sunday (February 8) by screening 12 films in three days. The festival also marked the finale of the Rasmi Film Society’s golden jubilee celebrations.
Film director Melattur Ravi Varma inaugurated the valedictory function on Sunday. He said that the screenplay began to receive importance in Malayalam cinema only after the arrival of the renowned writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair.
Rasmi Film Society president and poet Manambur Rajanbabu presided over the function. Secretary Anil K. Kuruppan, V.M. Suresh Kumar, and Kahlid V. Melmuri spoke. S. Sanjay welcomed the gathering. Indira K.T. proposed a vote of thanks.

After mounting public outrage and an intense political exchange between the ruling Congress and the BJP in the State, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has put on hold the implementation of the proposed annual fare revision for Namma Metro, which was scheduled to come into effect on February 9, 2026.
