COVID staff shortages force Princess Elizabeth Public School to go remote

Staff shortages because of COVID-19 have forced the shutdown of in-person learning at Princess Elizabeth Public School for the week. Instead, students will have to log in to learn remotely until the end of the month.
The school on Thompson Road is the first in London to switch to remote learning because of "operational concerns related to staffing issues" since school resumed last week.
"Classroom teachers will contact families to coordinate synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities," the Thames Valley District School Board said in a statement.
In London last week, several schools almost reached the threshold of 30 per cent absences, which the province has set for reporting cases to the health unit, as a way to watch for outbreaks.
According to the province's data, the absence rate at Princess Elizabeth is seven per cent. That data does not break down how many of those are staff and how many are students.
