COVID-19 in Quebec: What you need to know Friday

Note: Quebec's Health Ministry does not publish the number of vaccine doses administered over the weekend.
Four weeks remain before health-care workers who are not adequately vaccinated are subject to suspensions without pay, which could lead to hospitals and clinics being even more shorthanded.
The public sector is missing about 4,000 nurses, according to Premier François Legault.
In recent weeks, the shortage has led to to a number of emergency rooms limiting their hours or even closing their doors in hospitals across the province.
On Thursday, Christian Dubé said there would be no extra shutdowns of ERs or hospital service interruptions after Oct. 15 — the deadline for health-care workers to be adequately vaccinated.
"I promise that people won't have [to deal with] service interruptions," Dubé said. "But we will have to reorganize [things] because mandatory vaccination in the health-care sector, I won't budge on that."
Hospitals have also been dealing with an increase in coronavirus patients. The number of people in hospital due to COVID-19 is the highest it's been since June 9.
