Doha, Qatar: Adidas revealed that in a cyber attack some of its consumer data were stolen from a "third-party customer service provider".
The sportswear brand said that "an unauthorized external party has obtained certain consumer data through a third-party customer service provider".
"We immediately took steps to contain the incident and launched a comprehensive investigation, collaborating with leading information security experts,' it added in a data security information on its website.
It said that the comprimised data mainly consists of contact information relating to consumers who had contacted "our customer service help desk in the past", adding that passwords, credit card or any other payment-related information were not compromised.
The company added that it is in the process of informing potentially affected consumers as well as appropriate data protection and law enforcement authorities consistent with applicable law.
